When is Club Officer Training (COT)?Back to Top
There are two separate rounds of Club Officer Training.
Round 1 of COT occurs between June 1 and August 31. District leaders can submit training credits for Round 1 through October 31.
Round 2 of COT occurs between November 1 and February 28/29. District leaders can submit training credits for Round 2 through May 31.

How long does a Club Officer Training need to be for credit to be awarded?Back to Top
There is no minimum time requirement for club officers to receive training credit. However, the suggested training duration in the Training Club Leaders guide is five to eight-hour training sessions. Districts should cover the topics listed on the Club Officer Training Resource page; Districts may cover additional topics based on their goals.

Can non-club officers attend Club Officer Training?Back to Top
Yes, club officer training may be attended by other 91´«Ã½ members. However, these trainings are not open to the public and should focus on training club officers.

Can the District charge club officers to attend Club Officer Training (COT)?Back to Top
The District may charge officers to attend Club Officer Training, but the fee can only be used to cover the cost of providing the training. COT events cannot be used to fundraise for the District.

Who enters Club Officer Training (COT) for credit?Back to Top
While the Program Quality Director is ultimately responsible for ensuring that all COT credits are entered and accurate, Division Directors may also enter credits.

How is Club Officer Training submitted for undistricted clubs?Back to Top
If a member of an undistricted club attends training in a District, the Program Quality Director of that District should email districts@toastmasters.org to request a manual entry.

Who is responsible for planning the annual District conference?Back to Top
The District conference is organized by the Program Quality Director (PQD). The PQD may appoint a District Conference Chair or a committee to help with the planning process.

What events must occur during the District conference?Back to TopThe District conference must include the following:
- Annual Meeting of the District Council
- The District-level International Speech Contest

How much should a District conference cost?Back to Top
The District sets the cost of the District conference; ticket sales should generate enough revenue to cover the costs of hosting the conference.

What can Districts offer sponsors in exchange for their sponsorship at the District Conference?Back to Top
Districts can offer the following to conference sponsors:
- Recognition in print (for example, on programs or the event website)
- Recognition in signage
- Verbal recognition
- Complimentary event registration
- Space for the sponsor to display products or services

What additional events can the District hold?Back to Top
The District may organize a one- to two-day event in October or November, or host special events throughout the program year. These events must align with the District mission and adhere to all 91´«Ã½ brand guidelines. Refer to Protocol 7.1: District Events for additional details.

What is the purpose of the October/November event?Back to Top
The October/November District event is meant for educational sessions and award recognition. The event may include District-level speech contests (excluding the International Speech Contest), Club Officer Training (during November), or District Executive Committee meetings.
The event cannot include District Council meetings or other events that do not promote the District's mission.
